Death by Olin Maris (obsolete)

Obi had been too close to the Olin Maris, the glowing flower that was hidden in a cave under the snowscape of Lyrias, and he had been too close the shining water the flowers created. Had breathed in too much of the mist on its surface.

He had handled the pain well, he could hide how much it really hurt, but he had been unable to support his Mistress the whole way to the infirmary and her and Little Ryuu's workspace. But she is safely in bed, asleep, overtaken by exhaustion but not torn apart by the poison, thanks to Elder Highness' help in carrying her. And Little Ryuu has found a cure that only needs to sit for the night so it can crystallize, so his Mistress will be fine, as long as she stays in bed.

At least that's a comfort, a bigger comfort than he would have thought.

But that doesn't stop the pain from wrecking havoc on his body. Being so close to both the flowers, the mist, and the water, must have accelerated the symptoms, and made them worse. He's been in pain before, but this is bad. It feels like he's being stabbed from the inside, over and over and over, by many knives at once.

Still, he bites back the sounds that gets stuck in his throat either way, stares at the swirl-shaped bruises on his arm. It's getting increasingly harder to breathe by the minute, and he should say something, but too many years of silence stops him from voicing his pain. He curls up on himself, watches the backs of the pharmacists as they work, sees their shapes blur, and the knives tears at him. He presses a hand over his mouth, feels it come away sticky and feels the sharp smell of blood and bile, and suddenly he hears a feminine shout - Yuzuri? He hopes she didn't wake up Mistress - and Little Ryuu's voice calling his name with more distress than he's ever heard in the boy's voice.

"Stupid boy," he faintly hears, and he would have thought that Chief Pharmacist Garrack would have sounded angry at him but she sounds sad, before she starts shouting something that he can't decipher. His heartbeat and the sound of blood rushing in his ears deafen the voices and the sudden frenzy in the room.

The knives stab at his heart, and he curls up on himself, clutches with sticky hands to the sheets and his shirt, and the cough wrecks his body. He can't see anything properly, only blurry blotches of color, and his heart feels like it's being torn to pieces for a whole different reason when he sees the color of bright red move into his field of vision. Not his Mistress. Not Shiray---! He can't hear anything, his vision goes darker, and it's the first time in his life that he's ever begged after life, because he's had no reason to care before. But it's useless, completely useless. Gods don't waste time listening to prayers from people like him.

Obi's coughs gets stuck in his throat, he chokes, and he runs out of air in his lungs, runs out of time, and for the briefest moment, the pain is completely gone, though the despair isn't, before his heart stops.
